We are going out into the forest tomorrow from 8:30-12:30. We are excited to be in the park for the first time in a couple months. Look for pictures in the next couple days with our stories from the day.
The weather does not look like it is planning to cooperate with our Forest Friday adventures tomorrow, so we will be doing activities inside that focus on the Statue of Liberty. If the weather clears for a bit, we might go to the park for a short hike and activity.
The forecast is calling for really rainy weather tomorrow with possible flooding. We want our first day back in the woods to be an enjoyable one, so let's cross our fingers for sun next Friday. We will NOT be going into the forest tomorrow 3/15.
One of the things I love the most about kindergarten is the unpredictability of each day. Five and six year olds don’t like to be predictable or boring; neither does the weather in Vermont during January and February. This year in particular the amount of ice and the bitter cold has been difficult to combat when working to plan our weekly outings to Paradise Park and Fridays seem to be getting the brunt of it. Due to this, we will be making all Forest Fridays inside until March.
That being said, our Fridays will look a little different than a normal school day as we hope to continue to have time together as a full kindergarten and base part or the entirety of our day on STEM, engineering, and science based projects. We will continue to upload pictures and student’s narration of what we do on our Forest Friday blog (https://forestfriday.weebly.com). When Forest Fridays resume as usual, we will make sure to communicate that to you via newsletter or a separate letter in your child’s Friday folder. For those of you that signed up to come to the woods with us, please still plan on joining us. Even if we aren’t in the woods, we would love for you to see our learning in action. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions! |
